I have an 8 speed road bike, a 9 speed mountain bike and a 10 speed mountain bike. I've used this chain cleaner on all of them multiple times. We travel extensively so it is a blessing that we have had the opportunity to use this product extensively in multiple installations. The first impression of this product was very good. PR and packaging were phenomenal. My tool came with a spare multi-tool in a lightweight canvas pouch along with the brushes pictured and the product itself. - The instructions that came with it were poorly presented but it was easy to understand how to use it. - No fill line. for the degreaser. You have to make sure by trial and error that you have enough product to hit the chain, but not too much so that the degreaser doesn't squirt out when the chain spins. The chain hangs when entering the product when rotated counterclockwise. This is because the product's neck has two "sharp" edges. If you rotate clockwise there is no problem. But the counterclockwise direction is the direction you clean the chain when the bike is upright on the ground. If you turn the bike upside down you won't have a hanging chain, but you will spill degreaser on the saddle. The brushes are not rotating 100% of the time. As we watched the internal gears, for whatever reason, they would start and stop for no reason. It seems to you that you "clean" the chain and the brushes move, but nothing happens. 8/9-speed chains "mostly" come out clean. The brushes inside and the scrapers on the gate of the product are not long enough to wipe the chain. Loose dirt will be knocked off, but that's all. At a speed of 8/9, this product works well for the initial cleaning, but you will need a cleaning brush for the rest of the cleaning. But without this product, you could just clean it with a brush from start to finish - 10 speed chains just get wet. The 10 speed chain is just too narrow to touch the brushes in the cleaning tool, let alone the product inlet/mouth wipers. This product is not suitable for 10-speed chains. It is a pity that 10-speed systems are more vulnerable and often more expensive. These are systems that need better cleaning and this product doesn't clean them well at all. After using this product about 10-12 times after intense trail and road cycling, I requested a refund. It fails to erase my prime 10 speed and is barely usable on my 8 speed. That's a pity too. Marketing is EXCELLENT. The cost of the product would be enormous. But the final design of the product made it unusable.
