I recently decided to upgrade the memory on my old 2009 HP DV7 laptop from 4GB to 8GB and I have to say the difference in performance is noticeable. Starting programs and switching between windows is smoother and faster. My Windows experience rated my old OEM memory modules at 5.9 and they changed them to 7.3. Removing the old and installing the new is easy if you're familiar with laptops and easy to learn if you're not. I desperately needed this update for my laptop and it has breathed new life into it. I could even make games like Borderlands 1 and Slime Rancher run smoother and get a decent FPS boost with it. Get 8GB if you have 4GB RAM 1333 or less (assuming your CPU can do more than 4GB) and you won't regret it. .
