I tried using this vinyl tape to mask wood (sanded plywood) before putting it in the laser machine (to avoid charring the wood near the laser beam). Unfortunately, the vinyl starts to melt/shrink near the laser beam at "cut" intensity (causing problems when I try to spray paint onto the engraved areas during subsequent operations). This vinyl tape works well when the laser is at "engrave" intensity. (ie no melting/shrinking). However, the vinyl tape tends to lift slightly around the engraved areas when spray paint is applied to the boards (defeating the purpose of covering the boards in the first place). The blue masking tape worked great, but I only had 2 inches at the time with thin gaps between the strips. I need to see if 12 inch wide masking tape is available.
