The markers dry out fairly quickly which means they don't hold much ink. My son loves red and anything red is dry although we always cover with lids. To be honest, I don't mind buying him a second box for $9.99 because there are still plenty of color options. I would not recommend them for very young children. My 2 year old daughter messed up a couple of them by pressing too hard resulting in the tips hitting the barrel. But my 4 year old uses them properly so doesn't have this problem. They wash off the fabric, but it takes soap to wash them off the skin.
