Works well but overpriced and has limited use

If you are looking for a turnkey post office chair solution then this could be it. However, if you don't have a standing chair and want to hook up some speaker wire and drive in some screws, I'd save money and look elsewhere. I bought it for my sim rig and it works quite well for that purpose. . For now, I'm letting a simple tone through. iRacing probably has the best direct audio effects. You feel the road surface, engine speeds, gear changes, curbs, etc. Other sims like Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2 etc have some sound effects but the sound quality varies from normal to terrible and that's probably why I will upgrade to simVibe to manage this in the future. Forza 7 (PC) actually has some pretty good direct audio effects IMHO, but then it's not exactly a simulation. I've tried it with other games like Destiny 2 and it adds a bit, but take it or leave it. As for the movies, I found the vibes were just too confusing to really relate to what you heard for any convincing effect. I didn't feel like I felt an explosion. I just felt some sort of vibration that coincided with the explosion I saw and heard. It's similar with games. I think to get a convincing effect, audio tracks should be created with simple shakers in mind like simulator developers do. For example, Forza 7 has confetti cannons that explode at the end of a race. You feel the impact of those guns firing convincingly, but I never feel that in movies or other games. There are some questionable designs made with this device. Specifically, the wire (speaker wire) that connects the shaker. The connector on the back is a giant banana plug that sticks out about 3 inches and is made out of some really crappy heat shrink tubing instead of an actual plug. It just looks and feels very amateurish. Classes watch new students submit their first projects while I look at this connector, and then at the other end of the same cable there is a two-pin round connector with no mechanical keys to align the two halves of the connector in the correct orientation. for pairing. Your method of connecting the connector is to make one pin slightly larger than the other. Any time you need to plug a cable into a chair, which will often be the case, you'll have to fiddle with that connector to get it lined up properly before you can plug it together, forgetting to do it in a dark room, so how should you fret over which of the pins and holes is slightly larger than the other. They have this round collar that isn't quite round, which makes it even more difficult to snap into place. That's a lot of trouble for a cable! Having a remote control is good, but it would be better if it was connected on the back like the rest of the cables. There would be no reason to ever disable the remote other than the one they created by plugging it into the front. Again, just a dubious and slightly amateurish design choice. If I had any advice for the Buttkicker engineers, it would be to stick with the converters and let someone else take care of the amps and connecting them. For racing sims and don't expect more from it and you have a bit more money to spend and don't mind some questionable design options and an uncomfortable cable, then this could be the buttkicker for you. But if you don't tick ALL of those boxes, I would look elsewhere.
