This French Press arrived well packaged and undamaged. It includes an extra set of two screens and two rubber discs, so make sure you already have spares for long-term use. I washed everything after unpacking. The base is insulated, as is the lid and center cylinder. The lid is unique and even sealed in the middle, so soap and water doesn't stay in the lid while washing and get on your precious coffee while brewing. The bottom is insulated and varnished so it cannot be used on the stove. Instead, use boiling water and then pour it into a French press. I tested the thermometer under hot running tap water and it wasn't hot enough to move the pointer, but once in the carafe it worked. So after I had washed everything and collected it again, I made myself coffee. The included hourglass is magnetic and attaches just below the spout, so use it after pouring hot water over your coffee and wait for the time to expire before pouring your mug. How does coffee taste with this French Press? Depending on the type of coffee grounds and water you use, the result is one of the most aromatic and best-tasting coffees you will ever drink. I'm not a fan of filters and drip coffee which ruins the flavor and makes the coffee taste like it was steeped in wood and drip coffee machines don't heat the water enough. I was concerned when I saw the price and the removable floor feature and worried it might leak, but I wanted to try a press that would clean the floor easily. However, the bottom screwed back on easily and I didn't use brute force to tighten it and it doesn't leak. I've tested several different French presses to see which one I like best and this is the clear winner for our family. Models like this one cost around $100, so it's a bargain at the current price. It keeps the coffee at temperature for about 2 hours I think and then it warms up and so on. This would make a great gift for a coffee lover or even a tea drinker.
