Review on Bike Eye Frame Mount Mirror Wide by Fred Meeks

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The mirror is excellent but YMMV

I have two bikes that I wanted a mirror for. A Dahon folder, another Trek Madone 2.1. I thought it would work on both. It fitted the Dahon perfectly and did not interfere when folded. The only problem was that because the Dahon's frame is so much shorter than a regular bike, the mirror is too close to see anything other than your own foot. Not the fault of the mirror or its design, but an epic fail! Madone was next. The shape of the frame is very wide at the top and the mount doesn't twist as intended. However, the wings are flexible enough to flatten out slightly when pressure is applied to the brace. The front of the mount wraps around the frame and the result, while not perfect (as can be seen in the blurry photo, sorry) is very secure and solid. My main goal is to see my little son driving behind me and that gives me a perfect view. My habit is to walk through inertia with my left leg stretched out, this habit I have to break for optimal vision. There is one caveat with this mirror, again not the mirror's fault: I wear progressive glasses which I need when cycling so I can see the road and my bike computer. With this mirror I look down through the reading part of my lenses; But I'm too far away to focus I have to tilt my head too far to see through the top of the lens so everything I see is blurry. I can see well enough to keep an eye on my son, but it's a little annoying.

Pros
  • everything is fine!
Cons
  • Quality
