Review on 🎀 Enhanced Microphone Preamp & Channel Strip Processor - dbx 286s, Mono 4-way by Kathleen Roy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Finished vocals for less than $200? No, it's understandable.

Powerful and clear sound, ready for podcasts or voice-overs of your videos. I have no idea what the DBX's secret recipe is, but this mic preamp makes a lot of work easier. I've never run a condenser mic with it (maybe it's amazing), but it's perfect for a dynamic mic like the Shure SM7B. Gain, gate, compression, subtle de-esser, tone enhancement, everything is ready to go and sounds exactly how I wanted it without any additional hardware or a lot of hassle. Ideal for creating a professional-sounding voice for a video project. Other people might disagree, but I think the sound is so good that it requires minimal tweaking in the DAW environment. All of this for less than $200. If I want to be critical I'd like an on/off switch, but you can always power this unit from the rack switch. Also would be nice to have an XLR out but it's TRS and to be honest I'd probably still upgrade to 1/4" with a DI at this price point. Great processor/preamp and mine has been running since over a year old For guys/girls working on projects and studios who are wondering how to achieve broadcast quality sound without a second mortgage, consider the DBX 286x There will be dead silence between your sentences If this is a problem, you can record a clean room noise track/loop and import it into your project. This subtle background can make everything sound more natural.
