1. Stainless steel, I don't think 304. I checked this collar with a magnet. In general, the magnet attracts well, although the screw appears to be rust-free. But 304 should show no magnetism or show very little.2. I dissolved one. I couldn't get this end to catch the screw again. Maybe because it's a small clip, but that's the first experience. The tape missed but didn't catch the end of the screw.3. I used these clamps to attach a 5/8" water hose to a 1/2" copper pipe. This water hose has ribs on the inner surface. Those ribs were an issue, but I've been able to get a watertight connection with a few other brands beforehand. With these clamps I had to use 3. Also, there have been 2 clamps so far that would not tighten. I managed as there were 20 of these but I will be adding this seller to my shopping list as a reminder not to buy from this seller again. I wish Amazon had the ability to create a marriage list. I bought 14mm. It's just over 1/2 inch. This clamp will not tighten more than 5/8 - 3/4 inch. I had to use them but didn't buy them because of the reliable tool.
