Review on 🐟 MingDak LED Aquarium Plant Light - Full Spectrum Lighting for Freshwater Tanks with White, Blue, and Red LEDs by Amanda Adams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Could be perfect with a few tweaks.

Many of its shortcomings can be corrected with higher mounts. The light is bright but uneven, causing some areas of the aquarium to be poorly lit and creating a spotlight effect directly under the light source, causing colors to be washed out due to the brightness (this is also partly due to a color temperature that is too cold) . , which is normal for these cheaper lamps). Which brings me to the color temperature - this doesn't look good to me. The Red + White mode has a greenish tinge, while the Blue + Red + White mode looks cold and clinical. For illustration I have attached an image showing MingDak versus Finnex Planted Plus Clip-On. In comparison, Planted Plus gives a warmer light and better colors, namely red and green. And because it's higher above the water, you'll also find that the Finnex spreads the light better and illuminates the aquarium more effectively, despite being the dimmer of the two. Why do I give this light 4 stars? and no less? Because the plants seem to like it, which is the saving grace of this light fixture. My low tech plants shone like crazy under this light, even more so than Finnex which was amazing. It's a pretty good light. It's well built, bright, and plants directly under the light appear to be actively photosynthesizing. All it needs are taller mounts and a warmer color temperature, and it'll be a near-perfect light for the price.
