This is the best investment I could have made for my new kittens. It was my situation and experience to keep in mind. I brought home two of my 11 week old ragdoll littermates, 4 and 5 pounds, joined at the hip. So communication can be a factor in my success. Immediately upon returning home after a 5 hour drive, a good dinner and a potty break, they were introduced to what we call the "Octagon”. The aviary has a bed, tray, water, food and toys. They slept for hours. No attempts to scratch or meow. I let them out when they woke up and after they played and ate they came back. They have been at my house for 5 weeks now and the "Octagon" has become their kennel. They've never used the litter box, which I clean during the day and set aside at night just in case, and they always know they can eat or drink during play and between feedings. This became their sleeping quarters and security. zone when I have to leave the house. They are only 16 weeks now and Frankie is approaching 8lbs and Archie is approaching 7lbs. They don't mind unplanned downtime and have never tried to hang or scratch the top which I always keep. They didn't even try to get out. I think this "Octagon" is great as a new acquaintance for the little ones. However, I would not attempt to house an older kitten or adult cat in it as I have complete freedom. It saved my life and gave me an amazing sense of security and security for my growing boys.
