Great budget device for streamers!

This is a great little capture device for streaming and recording content from HDMI sources! Since Covid19 I've been asked to stream many live events (graduations, benefit concerts, etc.). It allows me to capture video from the camera straight into the box and stream or record it on my laptop using something like the OBS software. The input is treated as a USB webcam for the system, so absolutely anything, including Zoom or Skype, can use content from the camera or other HDMI source. I have a Magewell HDMI to USB box that I've used before and while the stream quality was professional (great colors and stream clarity) it actually overheated and dropped frames frequently. I actually had to add a fan to prevent this from happening during a long outdoor event. But for now this adapter seems to handle heat better, probably because the overall box is larger to allow heat to dissipate. Crazy because Magewell cost a lot more. Plus it has HDMI passthrough which Magwell didn't have! This means you can share this with another outlet e.g. B. to a TV, camera monitor, projector or an external recorder like the Atmos Ninja. Magewell could not have done all this without a separate splitter in front of it to copy the signal to multiple outputs. Yes, there are cheaper capture card adapters out there, but in my experience they are a mix of mostly unreliable performance and poor quality. Color scheme and the lack of features that this offers. The Magewell may still be the most professional version I've used in terms of color and clarity, but it's more expensive and only offers a no-through input, not to mention slight overheating. I definitely recommend trying this one out!
