I purchased this item to use as a platform for my laptop whilst working on an art class (digital drawing/painting) - not real typing, not real mouse. So I don't plan on using it as a computer desk, just to keep it at eye level. Still, it's great for that purpose - after a bit of work. As others have said, the quality control leaves a lot to be desired. The materials are very high quality. The processing is not very good. The platform above is nice and big. It looks like plastic and has texture at the top. If your device isn't Teflon coated, it'll stay fine. I'm not afraid of the stand tipping over given the sane behavior around it. All in all I am very satisfied with one exception. The T-beam that the top is bolted to is welded at a serious angle. As a result, whatever is on top will be at an angle of about 20 degrees. I could trade it in, but it's really not worth bothering when I can just put something on top to line it up. necessary.
