Review on SunGrow 8-Inch Catappa Indian Almond Leaves for Freshwater Shrimps and Tropical Fish - Enhance Aquarium Health and Vitality by Brian Chatum

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The jury has arrived. Also, now I see color being added to the water and I think it's a good thing.

: My betta activity is back at 100%. He built his first big bubble nest in over three weeks. His appetite is terrible again. I feed him twice a day. The water has such a beautiful, very light brown color. Fighters don't live in crystal clear water. I want my Betta to be in the best environment, not in crystal clear water which some may find cosmetically appealing. Also, he gets irritated when I show him something he doesn't like. He even showed a blue ballpoint pen which I held in front of his tank. I'm really looking forward to seeing him back in full form. I am very happy that I added this product to my aquarium. It may not have been the only thing that helped, but it seemed very helpful to him. So I added an extra star to this review. END OF UPDATE Yuri is still missing as I don't see any dyes in the water. I broke the sheet in half (very large sheets) and placed both halves on opposite sides of my betta's 5.5 gallon aquarium. My Betta uses one half as a blanket. He is lying on his plastic leaf hammock which is completely covered with this product. Before adding this product to his aquarium, he did not eat for almost two weeks. I was concerned after he hadn't eaten for the first few days, although he was still quite active. I turned his heater up from 78 degrees to 80 degrees (it runs half a degree less than set). I've waited a few days and he still hasn't eaten. I brought him a fresh can of betta cereal. He still has didn't eat anything. I offered him his favorite treat. Mosquito larvae. He still wasn't eating. Added Betta Fix and antibiotics to his tank. Nothing changed. I was very worried. I ordered this product after a week and a half when he hadn't eaten the only one The consolation was that he was still fairly active but I did see him slowing down a bit.I continued to do 25% water changes every few days. When the product arrived I immediately broke a leaf in half and placed them on opposite sides of the tank. After 2-3 days my rooster ate a small piece of flake food for the first time but left the rest. The next day he ate a little more than the previous time and the res t calm, which gave me hope, he eats like a tasmanian devil, still twice a day, he is fully active and builds bubble nests with Nova. . I'm so happy. I think I caused his problem. I started buying distilled water for tea again (years passed). I used distilled water to refill its reservoir several times over the course of a week or two. I poured it straight from the plastic jug into his aquarium, thinking distilled water would be fine. I suspect that due to the passage of time it has caused health problems and loss of appetite. I'm mad at myself for causing him misery for a few weeks. I should have known better. In any case, I don't know if this product helped him get well or not. Judging by the time this product may have played a role in my betta's recovery. That's because I also added two live plants to his aquarium that he loves. Two of the existing plants died a few weeks ago so I removed them and have never replaced them until now. I've tried several different remedies and that's the only reason I can't definitely say that this product helped him heal. May be. Judging by the timing, this is quite possible. The leaves for this product are very large and packed fairly flat (stacked on top of each other) in a sealed bag, but they have not been shredded. They did a great job with the packaging. So far I've only used one sheet. I used a whole leaf in my 5.5 gallon tank because it was sick. I'll have to read the label to see if I can reduce this to half a sheet for a 5.5 gallon tank in the future. I expected the water to be colored like what happens when I use Betta Spa (liquid). He may have touched up a bit but I don't notice as it could be light and gradual. I'll be able to judge that better over time. At this point, four stars seems a fair rating for my experience. I may add or remove a star in the future. Currently, I'm more inclined to add a star than remove it. We will see.
