I bought these after years of skiing with my fingers and my hands got very cold on cold days. It's awesome. My hands stay much warmer even on the coldest days in the mountains. I like the separate index finger as I feel like I can hold my poles etc better with it, although that's the only area that gets a bit cold at times (nothing obnoxious like my old gloves but the separation means it likely to cool down). The gloves have large, thick liners (also with one-finger split) that can be removed on warmer days. It would be fairly easy to use other glove inserts with them if you need gloves with fingers, although they don't have velcro like the ones provided. They're quite bulky so they stay warm that way, which isn't a negative for me, but maybe not for everyone. They don't have the dexterity to do anything other than pack things in - I definitely have to take them off to tighten my ski boots. But the bulkiness certainly keeps them warm and keeps my fingers from going numb on the slopes. Also, I'm a woman with medium to large hands in women's sizes and bought the medium ones and they fit great! Maybe I could fit in a small one, but I like that they are loose enough to be easy to put on and take off (without a lot of extra room, but with something) yet tight enough that they don't fall off etc. e. For example, I've already said they're bulky, but that's the point.
