I recently returned to the GameCube (DOL-101) and was looking for a high capacity 3rd party memory card from a "famous" company. and found it. It looked promising and I took a chance, but unfortunately it didn't work for me either. When the card was installed in memory card slots A and B, the card was not recognized. In fact, the error message said that the device could not be used. I ended up trying and trying and the card finally revealed when I pushed the card very gently to barely insert it. However, when I ran some tests with saved games, I found that any saved games I created or an official Nintendo memory card became corrupted and unusable. Eventually, the memory card was again not recognized by the GameCube, although I hadn't touched it since replacing it. All in all I wouldn't risk it again with this card and maybe hope for a quality third party product or try my luck with a used official Nintendo memory card.
