If you buy them for acoustic panels, you will need an adhesive.
I picked up a couple of these when I was buying acoustic foam and they were in the 'frequently bought together' category so I assumed they were specifically for that purpose . They're easy to cut smaller, they're very strong on the wall, they're really great. They just don't stick properly to the acoustic foam without additional glue. I'm pretty sure I've seen expensive glue paired with them, but I just used Elmer's Glue-All from the grocery store and it worked like magic, all the panels are still on the wall where I left them .
