I'm shocked at how well this worked. I didn't expect that simply swapping out the thermal pad would make such a big difference, but thought it might be worth a try. I'm glad I took the risk because it completely solved the problem. The video memory temperature warmed up to 108-110 degrees Celsius, which is too hot. After replacing it with 2mm pads, I installed 1mm pads, the temperature dropped to around 88 C. When I came to replace the pads, it turned out that the factory pads had bad contact, which could definitely be the cause overheating . Replacing the pads wasn't difficult. I'm glad I did this as it will definitely extend the life of my expensive graphics card.
