Review on LOFTEK Rechargeable Portable Work Light With 7 Hour Battery, USB Ports & SOS Modes For Emergency Lighting by Johnny Murphy

Reasonable worklight, marginal powerbank

As a work light this is a reasonably workable product. It projects a smooth wall of light sufficient for task work and close-up projects such as working on a car or under a counter. The red/blue "SOS" function is kind of silly - if one could use the red or blue lights alone in steady mode there would be some utility. It doesn't strike me as rugged beyond homeowner or hobbyist usage; after brief usage on a smooth-concrete garage floor the clip is already scratched up and some beads of oil have worked their way into some seams. I'm also concerned that the LED does not seem to have a good thermal path to the housing since it's never even gotten warm on me. The spacing on the primary light modes is also less-than-ideal: in use the difference between high (650 lumens) and low (380 lumens) is difficult to ascertain, suggesting that a much lower low mode should have been chosen. On the upside, the low mode does not appear to utilize PWM, so no strobe effects when panning the light nor moving something reflective across the beam.As a powerbank, this is not a particularly great product; as a bonus feature it's closer to acceptable. Powerbanks in the 6600mAH range are smaller, lighter, and have more ports. I'm not sure that this product puts out its advertised 2.1A based on some brief testing with my phone. Getting USB plugs into the recess is a very low-clearance affair; plugs larger than the included micro-USB cable may not fit gracefully.EDIT: After further usage, I've determined that the LED thermal path is sufficient (the LED is fastened to a raised pedestal - presumably with thermal compound) and the powerbank does indeed deliver >2A to compatible connected devices.

Pros
  • Awesome little light. Love that you can charge your phone with it. Got it as a gift
Cons
  • The battery may take a long time to charge fully
