I bought this remote control because I wanted a second one for my living room and it was very cheap. It worked exactly as it was intended for my TV. I didn't have to do anything to make it work - I just added batteries and it worked. My only additional comment I would like to make is that the buttons don't work as well as my original remote. I often have to click them multiple times to make them work. But they work. For this reason alone, I rated this purchase 4 stars instead of 5.
