I think the purpose of this ring light is mainly for you bulbs and makeup tutorials but I use mine for extra light for photos. I actually wanted to take pictures of our child on a weekly and monthly basis, but the light in our house isn't as bright as I'd like it to be, so the pictures don't come out as well. So I switched off and wanted to buy more professional lights to help with her milestone photos. Since I also like to take photos of my puppy (I don't like to put my baby on public sites), I took all the photos with lighting in my review for you. The ring light has a warm and cool effect, in addition to a dimming function. You can make it warm or cool as you like. Or as dark as you want. I first set up the ring lamp in my living room just to see how bright it would light up a larger room and wow it was like noon in our living room when it was pitch black outside. The nice thing is when I was standing in front of it when setting it up, the glowing light didn't feel like it was heating up. Or like I got hot. I didn't want my child or puppy to be exposed to hot lights. My next project with him is her milk bath photos. I can't wait to use it for this.
