Review on Wi-Fi adapter D-link DWA-140, black by Mateusz Swierczynski ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent product, the best quality.

Drivers must be downloaded from the website of the chipset manufacturer (Ralink) - . Php? sn=500 for RT2870 (RT5372) chip! Personally tested the adapter on: - Samsung n145netbook, on WinXP x86 and Ubuntu 122022 x86 systems; - desktop (Intel Z77), on Win7 x64, Calculate Linux 12.03 x64, Ubuntu 122022 x64 systems.

Pros
  • We are talking about dwa-140 (Ralink RT2870 (RT5372)) h/w ver: b3 f/w ver: 2.00 (revision B3)! - Works great in conjunction with Asus RT-N16 (Tomato firmware or ASUS native firmware version .260); - works fine under Win7 x64, XP x86, Linux x86 or x64 (with a kernel of at least 3.5), MacOSX (this feature is announced on the English D-Link mirror, after flashing); - Wonderful Ralink network utilities, see driver installation in comments. - Does not heat up; - stable connection (connection at a speed of 260 Mbps); - I tried it on different machines - no problems were found; - works stably when using a usb extension cable (75 cm); - low ping (built-in Wi-Fi Atheros AR9285 - 23 ms, whistle - 7 ms. ); - A wonderful purchase for the money (470).
Cons
  • - Win7, XP drivers are not installed automatically; - You can not install drivers from the installation disk that comes with the kit and from the D-Link website; - You cannot install Ralink utilities if there is another Wi-Fi adapter (with drivers installed) in the system. In this case, the network is configured using Windows tools; - The body is large.
