Review on Yokohama Ice Guard IG55 205/60 R16 96T winter by Dorota witek ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Overall pretty good, an equal number of pros and cons.

I trusted the estimates in the Market, other reviews and reviews. I bought it, installed it, and rode it up to snow and ice without any problems. I rolled the first 1000 km without overclocking, the highway is not higher than 70, the city is 50. But on the ice, the tires showed themselves in all their glory. I don’t pretend to brake to the floor, so all the tires will go into a skid, although there are worthy candidates. But not Yokohama. You need to work with the brakes with the finest precision so that the wheels do not go into a skid, and at least somehow slow down. And they have a line between light braking and skidding is not easy to find, also because it is constantly changing. Either they are more or less braked, then they begin to slide almost immediately after braking. For comparison, last winter I rolled Amtel Nordmaster, which I got with the car. So they, with the remainder of the spikes of 30-40% (read "almost bald"), behaved much more confidently on ice than these new tires. As a result, I am 100% dissatisfied with Yokohama. Troyak put only for the preserved spikes, with them the wheels are more liquid, and for the price. Well, a little for the fact that despite all the efforts of these tires, I have never been in a single accident. Most likely I will sell them and buy Hakka, Nordman or breeches, we'll see.

Pros
  • Quite budget among quality brands. During the winter, not a single spike flew out (although this is not an indicator, as it turned out)
Cons
  • Does not hold on ice, despite the presence of all the spikes. They write that they are noisy, but I didn’t really notice. Yes, there is sound, it starts at 90-95 mph and disappears at 105-110, but it doesn’t really interfere.
