Review on ๐Ÿ‘ถ Responsibility Developmental Encourages: Melissa & Doug by Andrew Arneson

Ideal for everyday use, not weekly.

I love this chart! Mickey Mouse is fun, the images are bright and clear, and the boys love browsing the emojis to find their favorite character and design. What I didn't like was having only seven chores and being able to do them once a day. Some chores, like brushing your teeth, need to be done twice a day, so you should be able to earn emoticons for both. Even at this age you should be able to catch a mistake once a day. It helps to see and visualize it so we use two rows of duties and close the days on the chart so we only use it for one day and start over the next day so the guys don't get the previous day over their heads hang . We use simple black magnets for bad behavior, while good behavior is marked with a fun emoji that comes with the chart. Boys can see where they could do better and where they did better. I follow them every day and give each emoji an amount of money and at the end of the week the guys get their prize or promotion. I have two boards, one each for my 5 year old and one for my two year old. They both love them and are excited to see what they can do every day to earn emoticons. My 2 year old especially loves Goofy with the flower, which means 'apologize to someone', he immediately understands that we're not always perfect, but it's important to say you're sorry if things go wrong . My 5 year old doubled his homework to get 2 emoji and they both took on homework to earn more. hugged his chart and said he liked it. that's why i'm giving it 4 stars and we're keeping it :-) I only gave one star because it should have been like that from the start. You just can't have one chance a day when you're that young, especially when there are things that need to be done twice. With these modifications it works great and I can only recommend it :-)

Pros

Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
