This is a very strong metal dog door. Most of them are plastic, and I wanted one made of metal to eliminate the risk of it breaking when the dog "throws out" the dog door. The door has a solid metal frame and a strong plastic door flap that stays closed with a magnet at the bottom. I seem to seal well enough that we can hold the door open without losing much air or heat. It also has a rigid PVC liner that you can insert to keep dogs out. Installation. The biggest problem is cutting a hole in the door. I used a jigsaw but make sure you have the right blade - my door was cased in metal so I needed a hacksaw blade. If you do this carefully, you won't have to drill as big holes for the nuts and bolts that hold the door in place. The installation guide is decent, but the template could use some improvement. The only problem was that I ordered a white door and got a silver one that doesn't match my door. Revane offered to send me another one if I sent the first one back. I told them I really didn't want to return it because of the rush and I could really just paint it. They also offered me a credit (for the paint and my time) if I leave it and decide to paint it. I decided to leave it and paint it. Not bad, and it ended up costing me half the price of the door, although I did have to paint it, which was nice. I highly recommend this dog door!
