Review on πŸ”’ Enhanced 3M Gold Privacy Filter for 15.6" Widescreen Laptop - Comply Attachment System (GF156W9E) by Carlos Reyes

Good security - Poor size and fit

I bought this screen for my HP Mini 210 netbook and chose the sizing system on the page. What I got was a screen that was exactly the size of my netbook's viewport. My netbook has a large flat frame around the viewing window that is just black and the front is smooth all over. To set this up, the translucent tabs stick out just outside the edges of the viewport, but extend from the screen into the viewport by more than 1/8 inch. I figured it wasn't that bad until I started using the scroll bar on the right. On the side of the maximized window I was looking at, it was impossible to see where the scroll bar was because of the tabs. Furthermore, the other tabs obscured the view of other things at the edges of the viewport (of which I quickly discovered there were many). If the screen were 1/4 inch larger on all edges, the mounts would be out of sight. It was advertised that the screen could be flipped to still provide a solid privacy screen but to reduce glare. I turned mine over and the bronze reflection of safety changed. too grey, BUT I didn't see any difference in the highlights. If there is ANY difference I couldn't see, all my movements around me couldn't tell, I could just as clearly see the details of the overhead light on either side. Also, when flipped over, the tabs just popped out and didn't hold anymore. Terrible assembly technique. Contacted the seller about this and received no response. Think I'm sticking with it I've attached it with tape that barely touches the edges of the screen and only the top and bottom. Holds the screen in place without significantly obscuring the viewing area. But on my new netbook, it looks as professional as duct tape on a garden hose. If you are ordering one of these for a netbook that has a blank area around the viewing area and the front is flat (no viewing area cutout), order slightly larger than you need to keep the brackets out of view. And if you want to stop the glare, look elsewhere. The security feature works great, but that's all it's good for, but the mount sucks, especially when your viewing window isn't recessed into the frame around it.
