I shoot a lot of presentation and promotional videos and it always takes a long time for the presenter or talent to memorize the script. To be more efficient I bought a Moman MT1 teleprompter. It comes with a teleprompter hood, a mini tripod, 3 phone clips, multiple adapter rings and a large carrying case. The instruction manual is not very clear and it took me a while to figure out exactly how this device works. There are basically two modes, one for smartphones and one for cameras. Using a smartphone as a camera. If you're using a smartphone to record video, you'll need to attach one of the phone clips to the back of the teleprompter, either horizontally or vertically, depending on your needs. But before that, you want to use a round foam sheet with a cutout shape that matches the shape of your phone's camera. Attach the foam board and then secure the phone. Using the Camera If you are using a camera, you must first remove the foam board holder on the back of the Souffler. Just slide it down and it comes out. Then you want to use a lens adapter according to your lens diameter. Screw the adapter onto the lens and then put the prompter on the front of the lens. In both cases, you will need another phone with the "Moman Prompter" app on the front of the prompter. I installed the app and connected the remote control to the user manual. The application is pretty simple. You can type your script, customize the font size, speed, and font and background colors. Don't forget to turn on mirror mode so that the text is correctly reflected on the mirror/glass. You can use the remote control to adjust the speed of the text or even pause the scrolling and just read line by line. One thing I found out is that when you pair the remote with your phone, the phone's keypad doesn't work or show up in other apps. Disabling the remote solves the problem. There are two cold shoes on the top of the prompter that can be used to connect microphones or lamps. Personally, I wouldn't recommend this if you're using a camera as I don't want to add weight to the device which puts stress on your camera's lens mount. If you use your phone as a camera, I think you're fine. Once I figured out the setup, this device works like a charm. The presenter can now read the script while looking directly at the camera. I never have to stop filming so the presenter can go through the script and memorize it, which saves me a lot of time. I highly recommend it to people who make a lot of videos that require talent to read scripts on camera.
