Review on S.M.S.L M200: Advanced Bluetooth 5.0 Audio DAC with AK4497EQ Chip, UAT/aptX-HD/AAC/SBC Support by Jason Ampongan

Excellent sound quality Bluetooth

I first bought the SMSL M300 Mkii but returned it because it doesn't have APTX HD or LDAP Bluetooth. The M200 is a bit more expensive but has these Bluetooth codecs. Modern Android phones support these codecs and offer excellent sound quality wirelessly. Google how to enable LDAC. Then if you have a high-quality music source (FLAC, etc.), amplifier, speakers, headphones, you will be satisfied. There is no documentation. The paper copy is so small and poorly printed that I couldn't even read it with my phone as a magnifying glass. But of course we buy the M200 for its sound, not its documentation. To get the best sound over LDAC Bluetooth I use these settings: Fl3 - short delay cutoff filter * DF1DP0Pr1SC1 timbre 1 * bL3 adjusts front LED brightness. *The above* make a big difference in sound. I use a remote control - it's cheap but works well enough. I don't use the front panel volume control. The M200 is quieter and has more accurate imaging than the much cheaper Ear Studio ES100.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Unfashionable
