Review on TANITA BC-1000+ Black ANT+ Radio Wireless Body Composition Monitor by Reed Rustman

Light as a feather.

I have been using my BC-1000plus for 4 months now. This scale is not for the faint of heart or those on a tight budget. If you're considering buying this, you're probably looking for more than what average weights offer and you have other fitness equipment. At first glance you will see that there is no reading. That means you need an ANT+ device like a Garmin fitness watch or a laptop. It comes with a Garmin ANT+ USB switch and associated software. What I found interesting is the amount of information these scales can give you and the speed at which the data changes. I mean you can lose say 2-3 pounds but your BMI can go up 2-4. The metabolic age can also fluctuate at any time in the range of 20 years. There were a few other readings that I found fluctuations in that didn't seem to correlate with the weight loss that was occurring. So I try to weigh myself at least once a week. You would probably go insane if you weighed yourself more often. If you create an account for your children or anyone under the age of 18, you must pretend they are 18 and then don't take the reading too seriously. As a techie, I love this! I use it with both my laptop and my Garmin 310XT and it works with both with no issues. As a person who loses weight and then wants to measure many parameters of their body, I love it! As someone who deals with mission-critical data, I'm a bit out of touch with the actual metric they provide. I'm sure our body composition varies with organ/bone/muscle density and this varies with water retention and loss. That's why I only gave 4 stars. By the looks of it, it motivates me to keep going with my daily physical and dietary goals, which is why I got it in the first place.
