Review on Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Telephoto Zoom πŸ“· Lens - International Version: Exceptional Image Stability & No Warranty by Chae Hahm ᠌

I did not regret the purchase, everything is fine.

I bought in addition to the whale lens. I am quite satisfied with the result - it is impossible to buy another telephoto lens with a stabilizer for this money, but a stabilizer is needed, especially at the long end. In terms of functionality, I can note the following: 1. Landscapes are not very good, after all, the focal length for this is large and the distortion at the near end is noticeable.2. Good portraits are obtained (acquaintances, at least, are asked to take a picture).3. It will not work as a macro lens - the magnification is not enough.4. When shooting birds, you have to turn on continuous shooting - autofocus is not fast. In general, I recommend the lens for those who bought Canon 450D, Canon 500D cameras. It will seriously expand your creative possibilities.

Pros
  • Of course, the main thing is the price / quality ratio. In addition, together with an amateur series kit lens (for example, Canon 500D), you will get coverage of all focal lengths. The presence of a four-stage stabilizer will allow you to take pictures even with slow shutter speeds. The compact size and light weight allow you to carry it with you all the time.
Cons
  • Serious chromatic aberration. Noisy stabilizer, small aperture, which makes shooting indoors virtually impossible. At short focal lengths (up to 70 mm), distortion is noticeable. Fans of polarizing filters will be disappointed by the movable front lens.
