My totally unscientific test for odor reduction is to put a bunch of packaged food in a bag and then place the bag in an airtight container such as a container. B. a bear-proof container. Wait a few days and open the canister. If I can't smell the food then I think it's pretty effective for reducing odors. Smelly proof bags definitely do. Do I think this makes the scent "resistant" to bears or other scent sensitive animals? nope But it is a good addition to the food storage system. I also use smaller sizes to store snacks and scented toiletries to reduce the likelihood of rodents chewing through my backpack when it's on the ground.
