Watercolor on gesso, on multiple surfaces: it works!

I've never used band aids so can't compare but it works. My only complaint is that it's incredibly difficult to get a nice, smooth, streak-free finish unless you sand it down afterwards. I've never polished anything in my life except my nails πŸ˜…πŸ˜…πŸ˜… But! I was dying to prime a watercolor jar, and after 4 coats and lots of sanding with fine sandpaper from the dollar store, it worked! It even worked great in (and in!) my mixed media sketchbook. I put it everywhere lol. The watercolor execution on chalk is a bit strange. I don't know if it's because I'm a beginner or because it took me ages to figure out how to smooth the surface, but climbing with it is EXTREMELY easy. It doesn't "stain" (for lack of a better word) or absorb like it does on regular 140lb paper, cotton or anything else. You have to be a bit more patient when applying the paint, but this allows for much more transparent layers. It took some getting used to. Generally very good! He does what I want and where I want. Just remember that this isn't quite the same as working with watercolor paper and it's quick to do! I would like it to come in a larger size.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
