Review on ๐Ÿšช Enhance Your Pet's Freedom with the Perfect Pet Multi-Flex Pet Door by Dawn Thompson

The best dog door I've ever seen! Easy 10 minute install (if you have the screws)!

Our old aluminum shop door had a PetSafe branded pet door for many years and as winter approached we found the door wasn't closing properly as the seal had come loose and we needed a good breeze had. We considered replacing the flap, but then we had the opportunity to replace the old battered storm door with a thick fiberglass exterior door for free via a Craigslist ad. I started looking for other pet door options for a door this thick and after hours of research and reading reviews (thanks to all reviewers!) I settled on this door. The video attached to the listing showing the installation was a factor in my decision. I am very good with my power tools and all I need to install is a drill with a 3/8" bit, a small level and a power jigsaw. I couldn't wait for this to happen and my poor pup thought the world was under when I installed a new front door a few days before the dog door launch. I was just praying it would be as waterproof as advertised. The door arrived and I had the door ready in under 10 minutes. This literally involved measuring the size of the dog, following the lockable door as a template, drilling 4 holes and cutting the door along a hole-to-hole line at the 4 corners. Reading the reviews there were a few who pointed out that the door didn't swing and closed completely freely. I have a feeling this was probably the result of abuse of the small level. I used one that measures about 6 inches. I could see where using Long could cause the level meter to not be as accurate when leveling such a small item. The door fitted perfectly into the cutout, and the transparent acrylic hinged door opened and closed freely. I went to screw the door and this is where I came across the only catch and the reason I should have given the door 4 stars instead of 5. There were no screws in the box or taped to any part of the door. The box was sealed so it was not lost in transit but lost at the time of packing. Boy was I disappointed. So much for my 10 minute install. I've read in other reviews that the screws are too short for some doors and thought that might be a problem, but not that they aren't included. It was a Sunday and when I called customer service to ask what size bolts I needed they were closed. Since I was short on time during the week and could finish this project over the weekend, I took the frame to Home Depot. If anyone needs to know, the bolts are #8/32 and I used 1-1/2". Because the surface of the door was uneven after the door was installed (see photo), there were spots around the frame where air leaked through. I used my fingertip, flexible rope sealer to fill in the gaps. I noticed that some others have used styrofoam insulation. I hate this. No matter how hard I try, I end up with a terrible mess. Filling in those little gaps would be a nightmare for me. (Suggestion: if you're using a foam sprayer, I'd recommend using the non-expanding version.) As for the swinging part of the door, the door closes with a slight "click" and fully closes once the door is opened. close. Wow! Doesn't matter! I think this is the last brand of door I will ever buy, even if I eventually have to replace the sash. As I only have a small dog that doesn't play roughly, I can't see myself having to do this any time soon. My pup looks more like a chihuahua and she learned to use the dog door with this worn old door that took no effort to get through. I know some won't agree with my method, but I cracked the door flap and slid it out slightly and then back in a few times. Then she tried it herself, grabbing it with her paw, but not so tightly that she opened the door all the way. I opened the hatch again and she popped out on her own. When she came back and stood at the door, she pushed the door again with her paw to enter, but not hard enough. All I had to do was stand inside, shake her bag of goodies and cheer her on. After touching him two more times, she did it hard enough to break the seal and rushed to get the puppy treat. Now she's in and out like she's been doing it her whole life. I like that the door is clear acrylic. Some have wondered if it's tinted, but it's not. Average size is quite large for my 12lb 10 inch dog. The first photo shows the door with the flash and the second without the flash so you can see how transparent the door is. The third shows where the sealant is used in the gaps created by the non-flat surface of the door. I will paint the seal but I wanted it to show in the photo. The video shows the door closing. I cannot recommend this door more highly.
