No internal drive cage required. A simple adapter will do. The drive is cooled in the ambient air. The case requires a fan, which increases the cost. I have a larger internal Blu-ray drive and it will be difficult to find a suitable enclosure. My new computer has an additional optical drive, is ultra slim and has no more free storage space. As discs become obsolete, what is a person to do with a pile of blank discs and treasure stored on Blu-ray? . Just remove the internal drive and use it at the lowest possible cost. I love this adaptor.
