I recently got back into jumping rope so I am by no means an expert on the subject, however this jump rope is very well made. I'm pretty sure even the tallest person in the world could use this thing. Instructions do come with it on how to shorten it, both temporarily and permanently. If you shorten it without cutting the rope you will have lots of extra cable sticking out of the handles that will be quite annoying. I used it this way for a day to make sure I liked the length and then cut the cable and reinstalled the little protective end caps. This process is included in the instructions. I use the rope mostly outdoors on grass and pavement and even after several weeks the casing around the cable has not begun to wear away. I expect this will last a very long time and I would definitely purchase again.
