I ordered this in black as part of a birthday present. I followed other reviews and ordered a large one for a 7 year old. It was big! Due to the lack of time, I made a gift anyway. The child's mother asked why I made the adult large, I explained that those were the 'big girl' sizes and the reviews had misled me. Embarrassed, I told her she could wear it with leggings until she grew into it. The next birthday invitation came a week later. I again ordered a large black (this is a cute shirt and I stuck to my opinion that this is not an adult size so as not to look crazy), a large red and a medium red. The black had the same "L" "-size as before. The red was 12-14L and fit my tiny 6 year old daughter for her age, the 8-10M I bought for my child would probably fit a 3 year old. The moral of the story is that no matter what size you order, it probably won't fit.
