I replaced my 15 year old JVC marine speakers with these as they were quite worn out. These speakers are powered by a JVC head unit only (no amplifier). They produce a very clear sound at high volumes, but sound a bit tinny at high frequencies. The bass reproduction is ok for a speaker of this size and could probably be significantly better if they were installed in a correspondingly large box instead of in my radar arch. 4 stars because of tin highs. Update: They've only been used about 16 times and one of them is already sounding blurry. I've only used them on my main unit so far and one has already been shot. Garbage!
