This die is for repairing damaged threads. It's two piece design allows placement on good threads and then working into the damaged thread. This will straighten damaged threads "almost" perfectly. A regular thread die is still required to clean up the damaged thread totally. If should be used first in conjunction with the regular die but may work well enough on its own. Be sure to use some oil to keep from galling damaged threads with use.
