I will never buy a PowerStop again.

I installed them at the end of 2018 (Acura TSX, 4 cylinder), easy installation. I've had them installed since October 2016. About 18 months later my Acura dealer told me my pads were worn out and I didn't believe him that I knew there was 15k on the brakes. A few weeks later, I started hearing storyteller screeches, and then metal-on-metal crunch a few days later. So I picked her up again. First, as soon as I jacked up the car, I found that one wheel turned with a lot of friction and the other was almost impossible to turn. Hmmm, the caliper stopped, maybe two. ODD as they were professionally rebuilt high end calipers. When I then removed the rotors, I was shocked at first by the corrosion on them. I live in New England but not offshore so I was a little shocked by the amount of corrosion. (When I received the brake kit, I noticed that the rotors were NOT powder coated, which wasn't to my satisfaction given the supposedly high-end hardware.) Of course, the rotors also had wear marks, but I took them to a local shop to have them patted them down and said they could clean them again, which they did. Now on to the calipers, the first thing that struck me was the peeling red paint. . Disappointing because to be honest the RED COLOR is the only reason I installed rebuilt calipers, my old ones were perfect at the time. Then I noticed that 3 of the 4 caliper slide pin boots were torn. Strange because they've been professionally restored, I've never had to tamper with them in the past. And I KNOW they weren't ripped apart during installation. In addition, the sliding pins were extremely difficult to remove and blackened when pulled out; almost corroded. (Which also leads me to suspect the caliper has internal corrosion.) I started cleaning them (brake cleaner) for a fresh install and found that I could only EXTREME compress (actually rotate and compress with the right tool) one of the pistons. could power. It was nearly impossible, but I eventually put the plunger back in. The second side was difficult, but not that bad. Wow, 18 months and about 15,000 miles, mostly highway, and that sucks. I will never buy a PowerStop again.
