This product makes me feel more confident walking my dog on the forest trails I usually walk. I tested it outside just to see how loud it is and it seemed good enough to scare off an off-leash dog or hopefully even a bear if I saw one. I then tested this product IN my house. I pressed the button for less than 1 second and realized how loud it really is. Aside from scaring my dog for about 30 minutes, I also lost my hearing for at least an hour. My friend also said she had hearing loss for at least an hour. So after testing it for 1 second in my house, I'm sure it will repel most animals when used outdoors. I ended up buying 2 more of these devices and now I feel more confident clipping 1 to my belt. I am a 230 pound male. and in fact I wear a PINK device on my belt. You can't see it because the case is black and my shirt covers it. If I ever see a bear or aggressive off-leash dog, I probably won't care that I bought a discounted pink dog!
