I saved them to put in my golf shoes and used them in the car and other places. To be honest, they just don't work very well. They inherently have that "clean" laundry smell, but I don't think they really affect the smell. I still get in my car looking for those silly fries or anything else that smells like something funky. The same goes for my golf shoes in the trunk. It's enough to play golf once in the rain, or we'll wait and our shoes will stink. Leave it for a day or two and yowsa roam. These didn't help at all. I now have one of the LARGE odor/mold canisters in my trunk and it works wonders. So save this money.
