Terrible battery life

I bought this unit in January 2016. Like you, I did my research before I pulled the trigger. The firmware is up to date and such. I really want it. I was on a budget for the more expensive Edge models but wanted to keep things simple. It works as advertised, except for one major downside: short battery life. They claim it's 10 o'clock. Some say it worked for 6 hours when they used it. I only had a miserable 4. I've noticed how quickly the battery gauge dwindles on short trips of 40-60 km (24-37 miles). All I have is the following: 1. Bluetooth (connected to my iPhone and speed sensor [when I use it on the trainer]), 2. GPS (including GLONASS), 3. Auto-Pause/Auto-Start.4. Sounds are disabled (a loud beep with each key press can be annoying). Then last Sunday, April 10, 2016, our team drove 110 km (68 miles). Started riding at 7 a.m. Made a few 3 minute stops to regroup, drove to my destination, stopped for an hour and drove back. The total ride time was supposed to be around 4.5 hours, but from the 4th hour it started warning about the low battery. After 15 minutes he died. All in all, the battery only lasted 4 hours and 17 minutes for 104.41 km (64.8 miles). If you plan on driving more than that time and distance, look elsewhere. If there are firmware updates that fix this I will be the responsible reviewer and make an update.

Pros
  • ANT+ COMPATIBLE. Pair the Edge 25 with a heart rate monitor, cadence sensor, and speed sensor to get the most out of your rides.
Cons
  • Operating Speed
