Decent minimalist bike computer/GPS

I've been using this unit for about four months now. He replaced the Forerunner 305, which finally took its last breath. I looked at a number of more expensive alternatives, but I'm no big data scientist and this device delivered exactly what I needed. I am very happy with the device although there are a few issues that prevent it from being a five star product. Installation was pretty easy, but I found pairing my HRM and cadence sensor a bit trickier than I expected. The installationโ€ฆ

Finally a bike GPS for all of us

If you've owned a bike computer like the Cateye or Avocet in the last 30 years, then this bike GPS computer will give you the idea. It's simple, small and precise, like old computers. Finally a bike GPS for those who don't like or want bulky, clunky and expensive GPS computers. I've owned this Garmin Edge 25 for about two months and it works great. It came loose a bit after one of the software updates, but after I re-downloaded the software everything was fine. The device is the same size as aโ€ฆ

It's not easy

**Scroll down to see TL;DR***I suffered from analysis paralysis for too long before I pulled the trigger on the Edge 25. I looked at many different options from different brands. I use my Garmin Forerunner watch to track other activities and I really like it, which has led me to stay in the Garmin ecosystem. I've been adding either this or the Edge 520 to my cart about a dozen times a day for a month just to get rid of both and think about it more. I finally pulled the trigger on the Edge 25โ€ฆ

Terrible battery life

I bought this unit in January 2016. Like you, I did my research before I pulled the trigger. The firmware is up to date and such. I really want it. I was on a budget for the more expensive Edge models but wanted to keep things simple. It works as advertised, except for one major downside: short battery life. They claim it's 10 o'clock. Some say it worked for 6 hours when they used it. I only had a miserable 4. I've noticed how quickly the battery gauge dwindles on short trips of 40-60 km (24-37

Pros
  • ANT+ COMPATIBLE. Pair the Edge 25 with a heart rate monitor, cadence sensor, and speed sensor to get the most out of your rides.
Cons
  • Operating Speed
