This is a great alternative to the more traditional salt lamp shaped like a piece of salt. And I suppose if you agree with the negative ions, small chunks of salt have more surface area than a large chunk. Not that's why I got it, the brightness range is perfect, I replaced my bedside lamp with this - since I've had a Kindle I never need a bright light next to my bed. The light color is nice and warm, perfect for going out and not too big. Replacing a bulb might seem like a chore, but it comes with one bulb pre-installed along with a second bulb in case it eventually burns out. I appreciate that this is a regular analog light as you can hook it up to a smart timer which I couldn't do with my electronic LED light. And the size is great, it's medium which is perfect.
