. and because of this, the clip is often untied. I was prompted to write this review after the large one ripped for the second time in one day. I used it to attach a small, empty lunch cooler to the strap of my backpack (max 2 pounds wet). One problem is that the spring bar is too delicate and doesn't fully adhere to the carabiner body. This can be solved with a locking mechanism, but the lock is just a piece of plastic that slides up and down the stem. The design allows it to slide all the way down next to the loop where it "sits" and prevents the bar from moving. The problem is that the saddle is not a true lock and upward pressure can cause it to ride up the bar. It can even go up to the handlebars where the handlebars should sit flush with the body, creating a nice gap of about 1mm. Well you get the idea. I wanted to like this product but went back to regular biners.
