Review on Versatile 5PC Master Set: Professional Chalk and Wax Paint Brush – Ideal DIY Tool for Smooth, Natural Crafting, Furniture, Home Décor, Stenciling, and Reusable Wood Projects by Doug Olson

Fantastic brushes! Very happy!

I'm new to chalk drawing and working on my first project. I bought another set here at Revain which included 3 brushes, soap etc and I paid about the same as this set. I started my project with a different set; prepared, conditioned, etc. before use as indicated. Now I will say that in the first part of my project, which I used a different brush for, there was a lot of texture, so I had to use a brush to apply the paint. The brush from this set is now basically GARBAGE! I couldn't get the paint off this brush to save my life even with the special soap they give. I had to soak it in mineral spirits (although they say natural brushes can't be cleaned with mineral spirits) because the color did NOT bleed. Luckily this set arrived as soon as I finished this part! I took them out and prepped like the others while my paint dried, then applied the next coat from this set. My god, the difference was day and night! These brushes are much softer! The other set was hard and more like stencil brushes. This set was flexible yet strong enough to hold color well. Minimal hair loss compared to another brush but I used a blotting/pushing technique so the comparison may not be fair. But cleaning; This kit kicks the doors from another kit! So easy to clean! I played it safe and rinsed this brush out every time I needed to fill in new paint to keep the paint from getting too far on the brush, but they are so easy to clean that even with that extra rinse, the total cleaning time is just a fraction was the whole time. Cleaning another brush! As I said I'm new to chalk painting so can't compare them to well known brands/high end brushes but I would have no hesitation in recommending these brushes to a friend or buying them again!
