Rate an opportunity? Brightness? - produces no light. Transparency? - a rather opaque creature made of black rubber. Easy installation? I knew I would buy basic sockets and would have to do a little work to make them suitable for my project. A few things to note: 1. The copper wire is printed at 12AWG. It's not copper and it's not 12AWG. Wire 22 or 24AWG and CCA (Copper Aluminum). If the wire size is wrong, the temperature reading can be just as accurate.2. The lamp you connect is part of the base design. It keeps the contacts in the correct position for the light to work. As others have said, plugging into a power source without a lightbulb installed can cause the outlet to fail. This can become a problem in the future if you forget to do it and replace a blown bulb on a hot circuit.3. Be very careful when removing the insulation. The conductor consists of fourteen .0063 inch diameter strands and you can't afford to lose a single strand. Having said all that, I made them work for their purpose by changing the wires. Know what you are buying and good luck.
