My dog has hyperkeratosis. I wanted socks instead of booties so my dog could wear them OUTSIDE in the warmer weather. I asked a question about my dog getting older and not walking much anymore and everyone thought it would work on the street. Everyone who answered me said no. Well, I bought it anyway and tried it out. I can categorically say that if your dog is elderly - or disabled and walking slowly, these socks will suffice. He walks on the pavement, pavement, grass, dirt and gravel, and they protect his paws and make walking easier - that's what they're designed for. Socks don't stay on your back. Legs as well as the front, but we're working on that. Also, I plan on using socks in his snow boots because they are soft and help keep his feet warm to prevent drying out.
