We literally took this out of the box and got it up and running in 2 minutes. It comes with AAA batteries and removing the plastic batteries was probably the hardest part of the job! It only has two buttons, so it's not very difficult. You point it at the person's forehead, get closer, press a button and in 1 second you get a reading. I tried it on animals and then on us and vice versa. The temperatures were as accurate as we can imagine, so I'm definitely happy about that. I took off a star because while it's very basic, I wish there was an easy-to-clean piece of neoprene over the buttons to make cleaning more efficient. Due to the design of the button it can trap germs which is not what we want in our thermometers.
