Poor battery life in personal fans

Reported 3-6 hours of operation. One would expect to get a full 6 hours using only the lowest settings. No light, just a quiet fan. Have at least 3 hours of battery life. My guess is that you wouldn't even get an hour out of it if all the settings were used. It would have been nice to have had extra batteries provided to charge and replace, at least since I bought these so my mailwoman wouldn't die all summer.
